CELEBRATE EASTER WITH AN INTERACTIVE EGG HUNT FOCUSSED ON THE SAVIOR!

Updated: Apr 11

"HEAR HIM, FOR HE IS RISEN!"

A BEAUTIFUL & SPIRITUALLY RICH EASTER LESSON FOR YOU FROM APRIL AND KERRY!

You can use this Easter Sunday lesson called "HEAR HIM, FOR HE IS RISEN" in your own home or share it with your extended family and do it together on ZOOM! {Make sure they download the kit too, so you can all do it together!}

I teamed up with the talented Kerry Smith from https://mrsladywordsmith.com/ to bring you something truly special and unique for Easter! An Easter Sunday devotional, to help you focus on the Savior with an interactive spiritual Easter Egg Hunt! With this type of an egg hunt, they will be trying to hunt for different words or phrases that each letter of the word E A S T E R can stand for, and that pertains to the Easter story. For example, "The letter "E" can stand for "EARS" - - as our Prophet has recently shared with us we are to "HEAR, HEARKEN, and HEED" the Lord's words. {THE DIRECTIVE TO "HEAR HIM" WAS MENTIONED MULTIPLE TIMES AT CONFERENCE! I have therefore included a pdf printable - "HEAR HIM SELF-SURVEY" to go with your Easter lesson. Let your family know that. . . the "E" egg is special because it reminds us to use our EARS and "HEAR HIM" - just like our prophet has just asked. Point out the other eggs that have "HEAR HIM" written on them -- After your Easter devotional invite your family to each take the survey so they can see how often they hear "COMPETING VOICES" in comparison to how often they are choosing to hear "HIS VOICE" - - This will be fun for each of you to share your findings from your surveys. LESSON OBJECTIVES: During your lesson, your family, will become more engaged with each other and the Savior, as you brainstorm different words and phrases together.

HERE ARE SOME POSSIBLE WORDS AND PHRASES YOU COULD USE:

LETTER "E" - Eternal life, Everlasting life, Eternal Hope. Ears {to hear, hearken, heed}, earthquake {at Christ's death}, Empty {tomb}, Eternity, Exalt, Eyewitness {apostles were}

LETTER "A" - Atonement, Apostles, Angels {rolling the stone from the tomb}, Anointed One, Arimathea {tomb}, Ascension,

LETTER "S" - Savior, Sacrifice, Service, Sins {forgiven}, Sacrament, {last} Supper, Sanhedrin, Save, Scourge, Scribe, Scripture {Christ fulfilled the Scriptures}, Self-Sacrifice, Son of God, Spear, Spirit World, Submissive {Christ in garden submitting to the will of God but asking for the bitter cup to pass}, Suffer, Spring, Sweat {great drops of blood}, Sins {our sins forgiven through Atonement of Jesus Christ}, Silver {30 pieces}

LETTER "T" - Tomb, {empty Tomb}, Thieves {2 others who were crucified with Christ}, Third {resurrected on the third day, Thirsty, Thorn {crown of}, Traitor {Judas}, Tree {the cross}

LETTER "R" - Resurrection, Redeemer, Rabbi, Ransom, Remorse {Peter's denial}, Romans, Remission of Sins, Reunite {Christ's body and spirit}.

WRITE ON THE BLANK EGGS THOSE WORDS THAT YOU HAVE BRAINSTORMED TOGETHER!

TO DO LIST:

BEFORE: PRINT In advance, print up the "Hear Him, For He Is Risen" printables and "HEAR HIM" survey. Display the eggs to spell the word E A S T E R. {I am going to be making a banner with these prints and the other egg graphics found in the printable kit to display as part of my Easter decorations.} If possible put up your decorations before Easter to create anticipation for Sunday.

BEFORE: CREATE ANTICIPATION: I love creating anticipation in my kids so I will before our lesson I will ask them to ponder what each letter of the word "Easter can stand for. Give them an example. . . "The letter "E" can stand for "EARS.

DURING: FOCUS ON THE EGGS THAT SAY "HEAR HIM" - For one letter "E" of the word Easter, have it stand for "EARS" - - emphasize the Prophet's counsel to "HEAR, HEARKEN, and HEED" the word of the Lord. Show the "HEAR HIM SELF-SURVEY" to your family and share that later that day or the next your family will evaluate to see how well you "Hear Him."

This lesson is meant to be engaging where ALL SHARE and participate in the Easter story... for the younger children you can whisper in one child's ear one of the words from a letter and have them act it out. Do this after you brainstorm that letter. For example for letter "E" - you could have them pretend they are in an earthquake, like the earthquake after Christ's death. . .
